This publication has a set of core values that are aimed at providing a support mechanism to the small business community.

Our 13 Core Values

1. It is a free resource...
   Each contributor has made a conscious decision to write specifically for the project. The information that you find with Top10 is unique and is provided free for you to read and digest.
2. Building trust...
   Top10Tips.co.uk provides free guidance in the form of tips. These are no ordinary tips - each contributor has to choose their mastermind topic first; then writes their guidance on the subject. Quality over quantity.
3. Engaging at all levels...
   We are keen for people who are raising their profile to contribute, and well known advocates to contribute. We also wish to provide cross-over for people with a vested interest in our vast community to introduce their field or sector too.
4. Partnership...
   The online publication provides a degree of partnership to its members. We have an open directory for members, allowing you to add your business to a UK directory and if you become a contributor, we will push your message and raise awareness.
5. Non-discrimination...same chance
   Everybody has a level playing field with Top10, website members can publish their business details in a UK wide directory, you can be sign-posted and contributors can raise their profile.
6. Investment in community
   The online publication is an investment in the small business community. Our aim is to take the material to the real world through a network of advocates using different media: print, video, audio, web and mobile.
7. You are our first ambassador
   You can read, digest and then share the guidance with friends, family, associates and colleagues. We have collated the material purposely for you to share using your favourite networks.
8. Tailored to Small Business
   The information system aims to hold 700 individual contributors with 7,000 tips on a variety of key topics purposefully written for small business by the community. Great care has been taken by each contributor to tailor their information to your needs... read it - it has been written for you.!!
9. Be more productive
   Rather than discussing something openly, get clued-up first, then discuss. Seek the guidance at Top10, then discuss its usefulness to you and your situation...there is little point asking questions about a subject until you have read-up a little. Our information aims to have no spin.
10. Get the answers...
    The basic concept of the online information system is to provide a source of information that allows you to seek professional guidance from either contributor or perhaps click through on to a complimentary service provider to make an enquiry.
11. Being "Green"
    We have agreed to give 10 pence in every £ 1.00 of any revenues on the project to The Environment Council as a donation. This has been agreed for a rolling 12 month period. In addition to this, we also ask each contributor to think about either the social or environmental element on their piece...this is our way of improving the world.
12. Governance
    The project has a Project Board and a Steering Group, who have guided the project to where it is today. They are a great bunch who have given masses of time to tailor this project to your needs. Each member has joined, followed or become involved because they believe in a better support mechanism.
13. Sharing best practice
    There are approximately 4.8 million small businesses in the UK or which 3/5 are sole traders. SMEs make-up 99% of all firms in the UK and we account for somewhere in the region of 50% of GDP. Ideally we would like this publication to reach everyone, most of all those who are disconnected from support groups.
